# Introduction

> Automate collections from your ERP, CRM or internal system with the Payable REST API.

Payable collects overdue and upcoming payments for you: it messages your customers on WhatsApp, e-mail and SMS, can call them with an AI voice agent, and gives them a PIX link to pay. This API lets you drive all of that from your own software.

> **[Quickstart](https://docs.payable.run/quickstart.md)**
>
> Create a client, a debt and a simulated payment in 5 minutes. No real messages, no cost.

> **[Core concepts](https://docs.payable.run/concepts.md)**
>
> Clients, debts, the collection flow (régua) and payments, in one page.

> **[Webhooks](https://docs.payable.run/webhooks.md)**
>
> Get notified when a debt is paid, a message is delivered or a call ends.

> **[API reference](https://docs.payable.run/api-reference/introduction.md)**
>
> Every endpoint, request body and response, generated from the code.

## Base URL

```
## Authentication in one line
Send an API key as a Bearer token. Keys starting with `esk_test_` run in a free sandbox; `esk_live_` keys run in production.
```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.payable.run/api/v1/clients" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer esk_test_YOUR_KEY"
```
See [Authentication](https://docs.payable.run/authentication.md) for scopes, idempotency and rate limits.
## Where to go next
1. Follow the [Quickstart](https://docs.payable.run/quickstart.md) with a test key.
2. Read [Core concepts](https://docs.payable.run/concepts.md) to understand how the pieces fit.
3. Register a [webhook](https://docs.payable.run/webhooks.md) and read [Errors](https://docs.payable.run/errors.md) before going live.
